Cedar Shake

Nothing Looks Like
a Cedar Roof.

Nothing else looks quite like cedar shake. It's a high-end choice that changes the whole look of a house, and when it's installed and maintained correctly, it performs as well as it looks.

Most roofers treat cedar like any other material. It's not. And unlike a standard shingle repair, cedar work takes experience. The fastening, the spacing, the underlayment system, and the ventilation all have to be right for cedar to reach its full lifespan. We do a lot of it.

New cedar installations: full system build with proper ventilation and underlayment
Cedar repairs & restoration: isolated damage fixed without replacing the whole roof
Cedar-to-shingle conversions: full tear-off, deck repair, and architectural shingle or synthetic shake install
Insurance claims handled: storm damage documentation and adjuster coordination

Metal Roofing

A Metal Roof Can
Last 50 Years.

A properly installed standing seam metal roof can last 50 years or more through hail, high winds, and Georgia summers. It reflects heat, doesn't degrade from UV, and needs very little maintenance. Metal isn't right for every home, but when it fits, it's hard to beat.

We install both standing seam and screw-down metal. Standing seam is the premium option we recommend for primary residences. Screw-down is a solid choice for porches, garages, and outbuildings.

Custom trim fabrication: valleys, ridge caps, transitions, and flashings built to your roof
Full tear-off, always: we never install metal over existing roofing
Repairs available too: leaks at transitions, loose panels, or fastener issues don't always mean full replacement

Which Metal Roof
Makes Sense?

There are two main kinds of metal roof. Here's when each one makes sense.

Standing Seam

Concealed fasteners, interlocking raised seams, and a Kynar finish that won't fade or chalk. Panels expand and contract freely without stressing the system, which is a big reason it lasts so long.

Screw-Down Metal

Exposed fasteners with overlapping ribbed panels. A solid, proven system that's faster to install and more affordable. It's a good fit for the parts of your property where metal makes sense but standing seam isn't necessary.

Best for porches, detached garages, pool houses, additions, and outbuildings.
Exposed screws rely on rubber washers that can dry out over time, so it needs a check-up now and then. We'll be upfront about that.

How a Specialty Install
Comes Together.

Cedar and metal take more planning than a standard shingle job, but the steps are the same as any replacement we do: inspection and photos, a written, itemized scope, full tear-off to the deck, and a walkthrough when we're done. See each step.

Cedar & Metal
Questions

What people usually want to know before choosing a specialty material.

It depends on how widespread the damage is. If splitting, curling, or moss growth is limited to a few areas and the system underneath is sound, a repair or partial restoration often makes sense.

If the damage is widespread and the decking is compromised, a full replacement with new cedar, synthetic shake, or architectural shingles is the better investment. We'll show you what we find and walk you through the options.

Standing seam has concealed fasteners and raised interlocking seams, so it's more weather-tight and lasts longer. Screw-down uses exposed fasteners and overlapping panels. It's more affordable, but the fasteners can loosen over time.

Standing seam is the premium option. Screw-down works well for porches, outbuildings, or budget-conscious projects.

A quality standing seam metal roof will last 40 to 70 years with minimal maintenance. Screw-down metal is typically 25 to 40 years. Either one significantly outlasts a standard asphalt shingle roof.

Not when they're installed correctly. A properly installed metal roof sits on solid decking and underlayment, which dampens sound. In most homes, a metal roof is no louder than shingles during rain.

The noise myth comes from old barns and outbuildings where metal is fastened directly to open framing with no decking underneath.

It's technically possible, but we don't do it that way. Roofing over existing materials hides potential decking damage, adds weight, and can void warranties. We always do a full tear-off so we can see what's underneath and fix it first.

Standing seam metal typically costs two to three times more than architectural shingles upfront. But when you factor in the lifespan (50+ years vs. 25–30 years), the cost per year is comparable or even lower. Screw-down metal falls somewhere in between.

We'll walk you through the numbers for your specific roof so you can decide what makes sense for you.

If storm damage is the reason for the replacement, insurance typically covers the cost of a comparable roof system. Whether they approve cedar, metal, or shingles depends on your policy and the adjuster's assessment.

We work with your insurance company the same way we do on any claim: documentation, adjuster meetings, and making sure the scope is accurate.
